CWC Stop Condense anti-condensation paint

Walls sweating every winter?

Cold walls sweat when warm indoor air touches them. CWC Stop Condense keeps the painted surface up to 5°C warmer, so the water never forms and the mould stops coming back. An afternoon and a roller.

Condensation: You're in the right place

An even film or fine droplets on the room side of the wall, worst in cold weather, often gone by afternoon. Mould that keeps coming back in top corners and behind furniture. That's warm indoor air meeting a cold surface, and it's exactly what CWC Stop Condense is made for.

How it works

Paint that keeps the wall above the dew point

CWC Stop Condense is a white indoor paint made from latex and nanoporous minerals. That mineral structure works as a thin layer of insulation, keeping the surface up to 5°C warmer. A warmer surface stays above the temperature where condensation starts, so water doesn't form on it, and the mould that lived on the dampness has nothing left to grow on.

It's breathable, so vapour passes through instead of being sealed inside the wall. It dries matte white, can be tinted or painted over with water-based paint. Suitable for drywall, concrete, and masonry alike.

How much do you need?

Total

Based on 0.60 kg per square metre over the standard two coats. The 3.78 kg pail covers about 6 m² (65 ft²); the 17 kg pail about 28 m² (300 ft²). Where the mould was severe or the cold spot is bad, plan a third coat on that area, so round up if you're between sizes.

How it goes on

1

Deal with any mould first

Health Canada's advice: scrub the area with water and a little unscented dish detergent, wearing gloves and a mask, then let it dry fully. On painted drywall, scrub gently and use less water; drywall that's soaked through, soft or crumbling needs replacing, not painting.

2

Check the surface

Clean, solid, no flaking paint or crumbling patches. Old paint in good condition can stay, and no primer is needed. Concrete or masonry needs to be slightly damp before the first coat.

3

Roll on two coats

Stir in up to 10 to 15% water if needed and roll, brush or spray the first coat, covering completely. Let it dry about 6 hours, then apply the second. Where the mould was severe or the cold spot is bad, add a third.

4

Mind the room while you work

Work between +5°C and +30°C and keep room humidity under 70% while you paint. Clean tools with water before the paint sets.
