WATstop is a three-component epoxy-cement coating that waterproofs from either side of the structure. It holds back 9.5 atm of water pressure in direct thrust or counter-thrust, so it works where water pushes from below slabs or behind walls in basements, cellars, tanks and pits. On concrete floors it lays down as a vapour barrier at 1.0 kg/m²; in dehumidification build-ups it primes the wall for Diathonite Deumix+. In the microcement system it is the waterproofing layer under Decorkrete in showers and wet areas. Applied by trowel or roller; stocked in white.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is WATstop used for?
It's a liquid waterproofing membrane for wet areas like showers, bathrooms and basements, and for foundation walls from either side. It forms a seamless waterproof coat that holds 9.5 atm of water pressure.

Can it be applied over tile?
Yes. WATstop bonds to sound, clean tile at 2.5 N/mm² with no primer under it. Lightly sand and clean the surface, fill grout lines deeper than 3 mm with Ardex X5, then apply two coats.

Do I need joint tape in corners?
Yes. Press Safety Joint Roll into the fresh first coat at inside and outside corners, wall-floor junctions and over Diaseal Strong movement joints, then cover it with the second coat. Flat panel seams treated with Ardex SK Mesh and X5 take no Roll.

How many coats should I apply?
Two coats, for 1.0 kg/m² in total as a vapour barrier or 2.0 kg/m² as waterproofing. Apply the second once the first is touch dry, within 24 hours.

Can I use it on floors?
Yes. WATstop goes on concrete and cement screed floors in bathrooms, basements and wet areas. Anhydrite screed takes Grip Primer.

    Can I tile over it?
Yes. Apply tile, Plasterpaint or the next coating within 24 to 48 hours of the last coat. Past 48 hours, sand the cured WATstop and prime it with Grip Primer first.
