What is Polites TNT used for?

Polites TNT is a non-woven geotextile reinforcement for liquid waterproofing systems. It's embedded between two layers of liquid waterproofing (sandwich system) to dramatically improve tensile strength, puncture resistance, and overall system durability. Common applications include repairing bituminous membranes, replacing traditional torch-applied systems, and reinforcing critical points in waterproofing layers.

What's the difference between Polites TNT and Polites 80?

Polites TNT is a non-woven polypropylene geotextile designed for liquid waterproofing systems. Polites 80 is a fiberglass mesh designed for reinforcing plaster skim coats. They serve completely different purposes and are not interchangeable.

Is it certified for waterproofing applications?

Yes. When used with Acriflex Pro or Acriflex Rapido, the system has European Technical Assessment certification (ETA 17/0769) according to ETAG 005:2000, meeting European waterproofing standards for durability and performance.

Can it replace traditional bituminous membranes?

Yes. When combined with Ultragum liquid waterproofing, the Ultragum + Polites TNT system can replace traditional torch-applied bituminous membrane systems, offering easier application and excellent performance.

How much overlap is required?

Maintain a minimum 3 cm overlap at all joints where fabric pieces meet. This ensures continuous reinforcement throughout the waterproofing system.

Can it be used to repair existing waterproofing?

Yes. Polites TNT is excellent for localized repairs of damaged or cracked bituminous and slated membranes when used with Acriflex Fybro, Acriflex Rapido, or Ultragum in a sandwich application.

Is it UV-resistant?

Yes. Polites TNT is UV-resistant and can withstand prolonged sun exposure without degradation, making it suitable for exposed applications and long-term durability.

4. Protection layer - protects waterproofing made with Acriflex Antiroot (applied after waterproofing layer dries)

Important Note for Bituminous Membranes:

Ensure existing bituminous membrane has been in place for at least 6 months before applying Polites TNT system to avoid detachment from oil release. Install air vents on highly absorbent substrates (screeds with polystyrene or expanded clay) to manage moisture.
