Decorkrete is a high-performance microcement coating designed for interior and exterior use—ideal for floors, walls, countertops, and shower surrounds. Made from powdered resins and advanced additives, this mineral-based formula offers excellent workability and a smooth, elegant finish.

This all-in-one kit provides a durable, 100% waterproof system for wet areas such as showers and tub surrounds. Like all our products, it’s non-toxic and eligible for LEED credit contribution.

1. What surfaces can I apply this system to?

tile
cement board (like Durock or HardieBacker)

The surface must be clean, solid, and dry.

2. Can I apply it over tile?
Yes—but make sure the tiles are secure. Lightly sand the surface to scuff glaze, clean well, and apply two coats of WATstop to cover grout lines and prime the surface.

3. Do I need mesh or tape in the corners?
Yes. Use Safety Joint Tape in the corners and seams when applying WATstop. This helps prevent future cracking in areas that might move slightly.

4. How thick is the microcement?
Each coat is about 1 mm thick. Most showers need two coats of Decorkrete.

5. How long does each step take to dry?

WATstop: 24 hours between coats and before microcement
Decorkrete: 6 hours after first coat, 24 hours after second coat
Aquafloor Eco: 1–2 hours between coats; fully cured after 24 hours

6. What is the working time once products are mixed?

WATstop and Aquafloor Eco: Use within 2 hours of mixing
Decorkrete: Use within 15–25 minutes (you can remix briefly to extend it by a few minutes)

7. What tools do I need?

Bucket and paddle mixer
Stainless steel trowel with rounded edges
Rollers (short haired and foam)
Sand paper
PPE

8. Can I stop partway through a wall or floor?
Try to finish a full wall or floor in one go. Stopping halfway can leave visible lines or seams.

9. What if my second coat of Decorkrete looks uneven?
No problem—let it dry, sand it smooth, and apply another thin coat if needed. It’s a forgiving material and variation gives it a more organic look.

How to Apply Microcement

Prepare the Surface
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, stable, and free of dust or oils.
Apply Primer
- Use Watstop for wet areas like bathrooms and showers
- Use Grip Primer for dry areas like living space walls and floors
Apply Microcement
Apply two thin coats of microcement using a trowel.
Allow appropriate drying time between coats and sand lightly if needed.
Seal the Surface
Apply Aquafloor Eco sealant in three coats.
The first coat should be diluted with water and acts as a primer.
Allow full curing to ensure maximum water resistance and durability.
